I was watching the game with someone that's' playing college ball and he thought ND needs to look at that. You still need to recruit receivers but someone like Williams in the slot can open up the offense. The Irish didn't have anyone that could seperate or turn a 10 yard pass into a big play.

Which allowed both Williams and Tyree to pass him on the depth chart. He was the 4th string RB and used as a 3rd down back early in the season, but when the injuries at WR piled up they moved him there. He was listed as No. 2 on the depth chart, but never cracked the rotation.
Good kid that had really good potential, but seems to have been snake bit by injuries during his time at ND.
dilemma.

If things went according to plan, McKinley and Skowronek would have split time as the boundary WR and Austin and Lenzy would have played on the field side.
Russell (moved to DB). These were all guys brought in as slot receivers weren't they? Still, I do recall that we have moved some RBs to slot. I just can't remember who.
Anyway, I don't think we need to do that. In the fall we should have more than enough talent at WR. Austin, Lenzy, Johnson, Watts, Styles, Colzie. Kelly just needs to make sure they are prepared and play them.
The bigger issue is having a QB that can get them the ball.
They need to develop better, more importantly faster. And they need to keep their guys at ND.
But we either don’t use them or put them in a position to succeed.
