It looked like a done deal for LSU, but ND beat them at the wire. LSU is known for paying coordinators exorbitant amounts, so Daddy Swarbucks must have pushed all his chips into the pot to turn the tide. He rightly folded on Elko's greedy shenanigans, but hung in there this time.
Marcus and his agent are smoking some premium cigars to celebrate-- more power to them.
You get what you pay for.

y happy doing what he's doing, which is alright. Not everyone wants to be a coordinator or head coach.

I know it was suggested last year by one of the “in the know” guys that Elston got a nice bump with the AHC title because Kelly really delegates a lot to him. Enough money where he’d probably be taking pay cuts going to be a DC at the jobs he could get offered.
None the less. I could see him leaving this year. Supposedly Purdue is interested.

I have to think Freeman and his large family preferred to remain in the midwest, for a variety of personal and professional reasons.

Similar to Kelly’s, it will only show the part directly from ND’s general fund. It won’t show the portion that comes from Under Armor, or the endowment (the “Bob Hinton” Defensive Coordinator), any allowances for housing or private school tuition reimbursement for his kids, etc.
This is not a state school where they typically need to disclose all of that publicly,
