In reading the article, we functionally have 10 players in the Portal as H.G. is coming back and one player was a medical retirement who is going to try and play elsewhere - he wasn't going to play here regardless. Just Curious on how that stacks up compared to the rest of the major programs this year with "free" transfers? Tried playing around with the 24/7 linked page, but aside from going through each school and manually counting (not THAT interested in the number), I didn't see an easy way to just get a number of players per school
Looking through ND's list, Lamb and Ovie are depth losses for sure, even if they weren't slated to start.
Glancing through some of the other positions/teams, I saw where Tua's little brother transferred from Alabama to Maryland, I didn't know that?
Hopefully, Freeman can convince them to come back.
The depth chart on the Texas DL is very thin. He didn't have a clear path to the field at ND. That's a good thing.
Lamb got passed up by younger players. Again, no clear path to the field at ND for him either.
...and I don't disagree with your assessment. Ovie was passed by Foskey and it appears Lamb has been passed by both Marist and Kiser. Both Ovie and Lamb probably have a better path to playing time elsewhere, but would have provided quality depth if they came back, and I was hopeful that maybe the clean slate that Freeman's hire represents would entice them to come back (like Houston Griffith). I don't think any of the other guys that have transferred out would have played any meaningful snaps at ND.
starters
From what I’ve heard, Na Na would have been higher on the depth chart.
