Kelly can’t get that kid. It’s not his entire fault I wouldn’t send my pro prospect son to ND anymore. It’s about the money. If you had a son that could generate $100 million where would you send him? To ND and Kelly I don’t think so.
He ran both them off. But it always is oh..Kiel was horrible, Jurko was horrible...but you really think it continues to be the QB? Kizer showed promise and as he got coached he dipped. Who does BK work well with? Pike, Rees, Book types. Unless he learns to let these guys be alphas...it won't change.

a camp where his release looked a little funky. So he dropped to 114. His release is fine now...so is he in the low 5* range again??? I say if his release and throwing are back to not being a concern at all, he is. Rees obviously sees how elite an athlete and talent he is and has spoken to that. He did a great job in the Blue-Gold game, after which Kelly said he continues to grow and if there was any way he could make the team better that they'd certainly consider it.
That's how it would always have to work for Buchner...not be a contender, insert yourself into the conversation, get a package to be a part in the fall, be successful in that package, finally take over some games into the season. Even Trevor Lawrence didn't start until his fourth game. Right now, Buchner is doing his part and Kelly is demonstrating his openness to that.
Seeing what has happened today...with Buchner leading the only two TD drives of the game...along with everything else I've read and know, I do think Tyler Buchner truly is the real deal. He may not get there this season, but I am more confident now than ever that he is the special type of x-factor QB that we've been looking for.
and that just means they’re 50/50 good players, the rest are even bigger crapshoots
I see now are that Buchner is actually a pretty unique talent. What he has done thus far is encouraging. However, maybe he isn't...and I acknowledge that. But maybe he is, and that's what I said. I said "Buchner may be that QB." I didn't say "Buchner is that QB."
But he may be.
Coan. I think Pine looks good at times too.

The last two NC QBs. And certainly ND can get Zach Wilson and Trey Lance level recruits (both top 10 draftees this year). It’s about hitting pay dirt, not necessarily getting a Trevor Lawrence 5* “sure thing” level recruit . . . though that certainly would be nice.

Or maybe he just needed his shot. Or maybe he needed to grow personally. We’ll never know. Regardless, my only point here is that ND absolutely can, and does, get that level of recruit at QB. The Jones, Burrow, etc., level recruits. It’s about getting the right ones. Whether the rest is a matter of development or luck or some combination . . . I don’t know. But it isn’t as simple as “ND doesn’t get the Trevor Lawrence level QB recruits, so ND can’t compete.”
same as the other schools that get equal talent.
those kids were evaluated by QB developers
I think it is a bullshit angle, but it is different from Chad’s point about ND not getting the mega-recruit who is earmarked to generate “$100 million dollars.” My point is ND can get the level of recruit I’m talking about — 3* / 4* guys like Jones and Burrow and Wilson and Lance — even if ND doesn’t get the 5* Trevor Lawrence type. In other words, it isn’t as simple as ND can’t get the Lawrences and Fields, therefore ND can’t compete.

All LSU did was hire a guy that worked with Joe Brady, that easy
