and go 12-0. Mentioned that the Wisconsin game was the high water mark. I got to thinking, isn't this what Ohio State does every year? Four OSU opponents are preseason ranked as are four on ND's schedule. I really feel like the strength of our schedule this year, which is "built to run the table and finish 12-0," is the same caliber of schedule OSU gets to play every year. Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan...who the heck does OSU ever play that is really that good in the Big Ten? A lot of the Big Ten schools OSU plays are doormats.
It's becoming one at the end of the season...
simply pointing out that our schedule this year, perceived as relatively easy, is what OSU has every year.
And I don’t think we turn into a doormat at the end of the year...we just have gotten the four seed twice against teams no one was going to beat. Did Alabama turn into a doormat in 2018 when Clemson whooped them? Did OSU magically turn into a doormat this year when Alabama humiliated them? No. They just went up against a team that was going to annihilate whoever they played and ND happened to get them first in 2018 and 2020.
That said, we did play like garbage in the ACC title game and let it get away with missed opportunities early on that changed the game away from the way we wanted it played. That was unfortunate and I will give you that. But to say we just turn into a doormat at the end of every season is a bit of an oversimplification and not exactly accurate in my view.
