It probably would be mutually beneficial for ND to join the ACC full time and provide their TV contract to the league. Yes, I know, they have the ACC network but NBC could take the league and rival what ESPN does with the SEC.
The benefit for ND is that it is a league and that seems more and more like a requirement going forward. And, it's a weak league. ND can maintain USC, UM, Stanford, Mich St. and drop Navy and other academies.
Win, win.
conferences. With the way the NIL is working out, most teams want to schedule other big-name schools and not be limited to a weak conference schedule.
This way the NIL kids with possible big recognition can be seen as a national brand every Saturday instead of regional tv. Capitalizing on a free lunch
and education.
But I'm always for and Independent ND. Gives ND a certain mystique - aura, and besides - if Freeman is half as good as what he appears to be, he's
going to be pulling in a lot of high-end talent who are looking for national exposure - something ND has. ND is a major brand on its own. Tap into that.
That’s what everyone keeps telling me. It’s The Myth That Will Not Die.
Great job on that NBC deal, Jack. One would think that since he got his daughter a cush job at NBC (extremely unethical, to say the least), they might give us a better deal.

I agree, that we're getting short-changed when it comes to the NBC contract. However, I doubt that the Board of Trustees really cares about the fact that the NBC contract isn't quite up there.
20.3 billion dollars in an endowment means that the 15 million dollar difference is little more than chump change.
No network is giving an independent program $30M a year. The conference deals work because when when UNC plays Wake Forest in a game that 80% of the country doesn't care about, ACC fans tune in because they are likely rooting for a specific outcome to help their team advance further. As well as having 12+ teams allows you to craft weekly content to to viewers eyeballs throughout the week/year. NBC gets 7 Saturdays a year.
