Moore and Carr would be a good start.

Bob Davie mortgaged the farm trying to get CJ Leak to commit, including stopping the recruiting for all of the other QB's in that class, as well as promising not to recruit another QB in the next class. Unfortunately, Wake Forest had upped the offer, dropping the recruitment of all QB's that year, promising not to recruit any more QB's for the next two years, and promising him the starting job right of the bat.
There were several good QB's in that class of 1999 who would have been happy to come here, and it ended up killing us in 2000, 2001, and arguably, 2002, especially after Arnaz Battle broke his wrist in the Texas A&M game in 2000 (week before Nebraska).
The sad thing is, that we would have actually matched up much better against Oklahoma that year, than we did against Oregon State.
If a QB is such a prima donna that he demands that kind of a price for his recruitment, then he's more likely than not to be a bad fit here. From what I can see, Dante Moore isn't the type of player who would get rattled at another blue chip QB in the next year's class being committed.

True, he stunk up the field at Wake Forest for certain, but I honestly believe he would have been more than a serviceable QB at ND. There was plenty of talent on those teams, and I think he would have done decently despite Bob Davie being the HC.
Wake Forest really didn't have much talent on the roster during that time.
That being said, if he had came here and stayed, maybe his brother would have followed. I care less about that situation, though, compared to the 1999 situation, since Brady Quinn came here instead, and I think he turned out quite well...

Also, if your program is doing well, getting highly rated quarterbacks every year shouldn't be an issue.
Alabama got Holstein (very high 4 star) this year, Ty Simpson (5 star) last year, and Jalen Milroe in the year before (high 4 star), despite Bryce Young having been on the roster before any of them were there, and now lighting up the stats.
If he is as good as advertised, he'll be above Carr on the depth chart. This is not a surprise. ND has been recruiting both very hard and openly. Besides, are the other schools that are recruiting him not going to try to recruit another QB in the next cycle?
That includes the stars and the back ups. As The Cars once said...."it's all mixed up".
good who "carrs"?
