This Irish team is pretty good and they played baseball. Tenn. is also very good....but it is baseball.
Exactly baseball is the sport that is most about executing and least about talent. That is why great
teams rarely win 100 games in a 162 game schedule.

I'll grant you that. It still doesn't mean it wasn't a huge upset, even for baseball.
I agree that baseball is one of the sports that don't follow form as much as others, but that is why it's played as a series and not a single game. The better team should win a series more often than not. This is college ball, played by kids just becoming young adults. Lower seeds win their share. This was the number one overall seed getting beat before making it to the WS. It has happened quite a bit lately, You can not deny, though, that it is still an upset when it happens.

That pitcher for us at the end is the most baseball ready pitcher for a freshman I have seen. He had
the guile of Whitey Ford. His control was perfect and his ability to keep those big swingers off balance was truly impressive.
Any team would likely be content to have a dozen of his clones on the roster every year.
I have only seen him throw a couple of times. Very, very impressive.

He better ante up that coach has that team playing so sharp and clean that a mental mistake is
a headline. There is absolutely nothing more beautiful in baseball to play within your capabilities and beat a team that is way physically better. That game reminded me of Villanova beating Georgetown in basketball when it seemed impossilbe.
