We do not have a capable FBS QB. We would win more games with Coan
Okay, MF is the 1st HC in ND history to start 0-3. But, I am not putting him down for that start. No head coach history and yet ND welcomed him with open arms. I still have faith that based on the 23 and 24 recruiting that MF can turn the corner and be part of the top tier of college football. Right now, we are not a good team. The O is absolutely horrible and I think all would agree this will be a problem all year. The O LIne is being dominated by the opposing team's D front 7 and backs. OSU, not a top D yet, but will be. Marshall, impressed the Hell out of me on D today. Their D coach had ND out smarted all day. Our O Line, fire the starters and play athletes who want to bulldoze the D in front of them. We can't run the ball and that clamps our passing game. No run blocking and zero pass protection for the QB's. Yes, we are weak at QB, running back and WR this year, but the O Line is killing us. The QB's rush the throws, ie, INT'S. But, how many passes today hit the receiver's hands and they did not make the catch. If it hits the hands, you have got to make the effort to catch it. How good is Mayer and when we put the ball in his hands, good things happen. Use the best TE in college ball. He won't be here next year. We cannot survive no yards on 1st down and how many times are we at 3rd and 8 or 9? No chance of making consistent 1st downs. Reece, like MF, not enough coaching experience. BK, The traitor, but good riddance, should have NEVER promoted him to OC. But, he is not playing and right now and any OC would not have success given the current O 11. Harry H, he can't play either, but a serious evaluation of the starters and where they are by position on the O Line must be made. You can bet that any coach worth his weight would line up the O Linemen, one on one, and the survivors would start next week. Now, the D. Put in a bad position all day by the O, but come on, Marshall did what they wanted. They ran the ball well, mixed in the pass as well and created success all day. Their tempo, mix of RPO, had the D on their heels. And, for the second week, they allowed the opposing O to put together a 95 yard back breaker drive. Just not seeing the D perform at the level I expected. All in all, we drop to maybe 15th, a gift, but right now, 7-5 or 6-6 is a real possibility. Lose your home opener to a SBS team, a good team, in front of of a packed house is not a good place to be. Now, look at Bama and Georgia. Smart and Saban understand X's and O's. They also have the best talent year in and year out. They will remain at the top tier of college ball along with Sweeney and Clemson. Again, could we climb into this tier, we will see in the next few years. Right now, just expect a mediocre season and maybe, a low level pre New Years bowl game.
into pocket passers with mobility. If a kid can’t hit a guy in stride or in the chest in high school, he ain’t a qb.
