You're at the extreme mercy of 18-22 year olds. Pandering to these younguns and their extended families is a full time job. Boosters, alums, student body, and the media are all constantly busting your chops. And you better make the right coaching hires, knowing that they have an eye on the bigger position somewhere else. NIL. Transfers in. Transfers out. Academic ineligible. Law breakers. School infractions. Message boards. Family hearing the silent whispers at church or in the grocery stores. It's a ball of confusion.

graduated college, coaches and journalists barely made enough to survive. Now coaches make more than many fortune 500 CEO's. If I knew then where the salaries were going to go, I certainly would have given coaching a try.
and put that $$$ into a retirement account and live happily ever after!
These dudes get thee same treatment at FCS and HBCU schools, but on a smaller scale. There are very very few Nick Sabans.
