"Inexperienced", both in terms of individual starts and time spent in positions...together....
>Tackles...Fisher and Alt are true Sophomores...Fisher has but 3 Starts...FSU, followed by injury, then Okla State and OSU (before Marshall)...Alt had 9 Starts, but 3 in loses to ranked teams.
>Guards...Patterson a former Center...missed OSU with foot sprain...no chemistry with Correll or Alt...Lugg not experienced at Guard...no chemistry with Fisher...as a former Tackle, tends to look "Outside" instead of Inside, thus leaving Correll alone.
>Center...Correll only had 3 Starts at Center before Marshall...again, no chemistry established.
It's going to take time to build a real effective OL...let's see if Hiestand can accelerate the process...I doubt he's forgotten how to put linemen in the NFL.

Last year 4 new starters and the one returning starter was playing a new position and the QB was a statue who didn't have to be accounted for in the run game and had no mobility to avoid pressure. Then the star freshman left tackle, Fisher, was out for the season in the first game, then his replacement was injured and they had to go to converted TE freshman (who was developed by secret phone sessions with HH into a freshman All American), etc. No excuse, we were told. But now excuses are acceptable again? Wonder why.

Patterson back to center. Kristofic and Spindler take over a guard. Alt and Fisher remain at tackle.
It sets an example across the team that you need to play harder or the staff will find someone else that will.

Time to sit him.

It's not like these guys are new to the OL or haven't been coached before.
Hiestand was supposed to be a difference maker. Not expecting dominance out of the box but the Marshall performance was truly sad on the OL.
Hiestand has an enviable "CV" when it comes to coaching the OL...he knows what it takes to get kids into the NFL...and stay there...give him time to make the needed changes and improvements.
