This should be more fun.
For me: 2010 Navy, 2003 Syracuse, 1999 MSU.

It sucked, but Marshall wasn't terrible.
It’s totally fair to be upset that ND lost to Marshall. At the same time, Marshall has better talent than some P5 teams. Had ND lost to any P5 team instead, outside of maybe Kansas, it’s fair to wonder if people would still be acting like the world is ending.

Each sucked in their own special way. The cold games were the worst.
Tennessee game.

ND led 31-7 near the half. Excruciating.
Complete silence at the end of the game.
Reminded me of those mid-2000 NBC broadcasts when you could hear birds chirping in between Tom Hammond's inanity.
ndunabomber gave a very good description of this game below. That game was ours to lose. I still have nightmares about 3rd & 44 to go.
Was physically threatened all day. I like to think I represented well, and didn’t back down. Was so happy when they tore that shitstain stadium down.
Both were brutal but I have to go with SC because we gained our first 1st Down of the entire game as the clock expired for the third quarter. Plus the SC fans felt so bad for us they weren't even talking shit, they were attempting to console us on the way out of the stadium. You know you really suck when such a bitter rival feels sorry for you.

The stadium has since been torn down, but I remember Tim Brown fumbling the opening kick-off. It only went downhill from there.
ND came in ranked in the Top 10 and Purdue was unranked.

Me too.
Right now, Stanford of 1990 has the edge. That game was winnable every step of the way, and by all rights, should have been a blowout.
Rocket got hit with a deep thigh bruise, and was out for the game, but we were still racking up points, and defense was holding well enough to force some punts. Tommy Vardell shouldn't have had those opportunities to punch in those multiple touchdowns in the first place.
Two fumbled punts by Ricky Watters and one by Adrian Jarrell became TD scoring drives for Stanford, and not to mention, we were all but unstoppable on offense with our ground game. So many opportunities lost...
Then, the dropped pass by Derek Brown in the end zone as time expired, was a real killer. That pass was very well thrown, and right at his big hands, but it passed through like a basketball swishing through the net.
wide open.
For me (1) 1964 USC/ND - Ara's first year 9-0 ranked #1 going into LA Coliseum. Irish led 17-0 at half; USC got a TD with less that 2 minutes to play and won 20-17. (2) It took me 10 years to go back to a USC/ND game at the LA Coliseum - Ara vs. John McKay - ND led 24-6 at the half and Anthony Davis ran the 2nd half kickoff back and ND lost 55-24. First time I ever saw a ND team quit. (3) 2014 USC-ND at LA Coliseum - USC 49- ND 14. I quit forever going to the LA Coliseum to watch another ND/USC game!!
Jackson. Purdue fans were not gracious in the aftermath of their victory.
'05 USC, UConn, Tulsa, USF, Navy, Marshall, '08 Cuse, Cincy, N'western, Stanford, Tenn, '93 BC & '02 BC, Nebraska and so on. There are a ton.
