Few people aren't enamored with the guy's personality, but even we need to see something.

2-2 going into the bye is light-years better than 1-3.

Not the steak. Lose a game and that’s two weeks where you can’t counter the narrative.
I couldn't care less about his personality. A piece of paper has more personality than Bill Belichick but his teams perform due to his leadership. The same could be said about Saban
It doesn't matter how many stars you had when recruited, you still must play this game with passion.
Only Devine won without being loved... and he inherited unreal talent from Ara.
I need to see a cohesive football team, less confusion and dysfunction on sideline and a team that executed plays.
to be gone. I was not sold on the MF hire, purely because I believe he needed to cut his teeth as an HC at a lower tier program. The man can recruit, no doubt but I remember Gerry Faust era all too well. Great recruiter, but did have not the college HC exp. Now, I know that everyone will point to 1st time HCs, Lincoln Riley, Dabo, Jimbo, Ryan but those guys took over programs that were at high points; ND, thanks to Kelly and his staff, were not!
effectively asked to apologize for it, and he did effectively apologize, summing up his achievements and saying he guessed that wasn't enough.
The idea that a coach who went to a NC game, won 10+ games in 6 out of his last 7 seasons and made 2 -- and could've very easily been 3 -- playoff appearances in a 4-year period was going to be easily replaced was absurd. He made ND work as a football program in this era. There were isssues (QB anyone), but he was good at recognizing and solving issues. When the question was asked on this board, Freeman or Fickell, I said neither, bring back Kelly. (In the absence of that, get Clawson.) I stand by that.

Doesn't work unless the head coach sets the tone,i.e. is a gr8 head man. They tried changing OCs with Faust/Davie.It doesn't work when the head man is ineffective. For this reason alone, he needs to show progress.
NC winning) ND HC.
The man didn't know what he had.

So win the best way this team can. Strive to get to a decent bowl. A couple of our guys will probably opt out so let's give some attention to their projected replacements. Compile a short list of proven OCs who can recruit. Just in case. Marcus is safe. So he can focus on the program and not worry about his job. Whoever the spotter is for Marcus. Zero tolerance for rest of that person's career at ND.
Against NC, that shouldn’t be too much to ask for. Before the season, I felt this would be a game the Irish would win comfortably. After week 1, I still felt that way. Was the Marshall game an anamoly, a team hungover from the highs and the loss at Ohio State. Was last week the product of having a new QB thrown into the starting role? Or is ND the team that “showed up” against Marshall and the first half of last week? I still think this is a damn good football team. I’m not as doom and gloom as others. I want to see dominance in the tranches, a running game, for Pyne to manage the team and be a leader, to complete some chunk plays, and on the defensive side to get after them and force turnovers. None of this is a big ask (in my opinion), and should be the minimum/standard of ND football.
Freeman. Screaming at players is not in his DNA.
