But bottom line, the O-line today was what made it go, this is what I expected but a few weeks late. This team goes as the O-line goes or sm I missing something?
they can play at any level on the curve. Have to tighten that curve, but there is some elite talent on the roster. Unfortunately, most of that talent under 22 years old and make blunders at inopportune times....just as every one of us has done. But it does make for an interesting season, though it will not end in the playoffs. For the sake of the team and coaches, I would love for them to win out.
There were no running lanes open, and pass protection was terrible. It really didn't matter who would have been at the QB position; he would still have gotten crushed.
It took us 3 games for the line to gel together, and I think that what we saw today can be more of the norm. We have three excellent running backs ready to play, and there certainly looks like there's some skill at the wideouts, even if developed depth is a bit short. Even with Baumann gone for the year, there's still plenty of tight end talent after Mayer.
It's just a shame that it cost us our starting QB in the meantime. Those losses were actually quite winnable.
Still, better late than never.
If the opposing team stuffs the run and gets the type of rush on the QB that OSU and Marshall got, then I honestly don't think it matters whether it's Buchner or Pyne, we would be in deep trouble offensively. We need to run the football. Our QBs and WRs aren't good enough right now to do it without a running game.
