1. A win - I’ll take it.
2. Took about a Q to settle in, but a much clearer offensive identity. Pyne makes good decisions and progresses through his check downs. I like him with this O. He’s our guy. Debate on that topic seems done.
3. Blocking improved by line AND backs. Good use of 2 back set.
4. Mayer is the legit #1 TE in the draft. Big physical player that can block and catch. He loves smashing people.
5. I like the game Rees called & his use of Tyree, Estime & Diggs as well as consistency and pacing. Use the run to set up the pass. Also good start to second half. Diggs had a pretty good game. I guess Rees figured out how to use 3 backs.
6. Lb corps still looks slow to me & they aren’t great on the blitz. Although mr. targeting did scare Maye into dropping the ball on a lb blitz.
7. Secondary is work in progress - jury is out. For ex. Bracy got burned in Q2, BUT I think he was going for an int - coverage wasn’t bad otherwise. Plus the late game bs.
8. I think we’ll have a problem with tempo. And teams with better balance.
9. Good improvement week over week. Pyne appears to have mastered the short and mid-level pass and had some success with the deep ball. I think he can work on throwing a more accurate ball on the scramble.
10. Revised prediction: 6-6.
College football is all about mojo and confidence.
Notre Dame has tremendous talent. Stated differently, Notre Dame has more or equal talent than any remaining opponent, except possibly Clemson. Ohio State is the one opponent who had a clear talent advantage.
The Irish are improving. I believe they are nowhere near their ceiling.
The Irish will beat BYU by 13 points.
Clemson
USC
BYU

It’s hard to tell what we have at this point b/c UNC D is terrible and we’re also inconsistent in multiple facets of the game (ex punting), plus I’m expecting the ghost of Kelly to possess Reese in at least one more game and cost us bigly. Given ‘Cuss’s spot on our schedule, it’s the most likely spot where Reese will loose all control and throw the ball 59 times.
That said, USC, Clemson, BYU, and Cuse are the most formidable competition and they all have looked quite bearable over the last two weeks.
maybe 2 - 10, or 3 - 9, or 4 - 8, or 5 - 7.
depends on whether they win or lose from one week to the next.

Mixed in with some nice pass plays
But you can’t look past the fact it was tbe 121st ranked defense so it was almost approaching a scrimmage.
Love Hart athleticism and size but one play you see it, next he's guessing. May not be comfortable in his role or with the D...sometimes ignorance is bliss. Let the young dudes ball...they don't have the bad mojo of the last regime holding them back.

the pocket. You are spot on that the MLB’s are slow. The biggest question going forward is how the offense will do against better defenses. I did think that after the first quarter, Rees did a much better job with play calling and the team executed so that’s a big positive. We need to see a WR step up because better teams will take out or limit Mayer, so somebody else will need to beat the opposition. Good win though yesterday.
