.....I drank that "kool-aid" like everyone else back then. Will admit I also drank the "MF Kool-Aid" last December but was cautiously optimistic harkening back to the Faust era - here we go again Faust 2.0.
It's interesting because as I recall, Dan Devine, much like Kelly, was not exactly revered by the Irish fan base when Faust got hired. I don't think the hatred for Devine was as intense. But remember, back then, there was no internet for people to air their grievances. Much like you I cautiously drank the Freeman Kool Aid and rationalized that this was different than Faust. But I am seeing some similarities up to this point regarding how poorly both
teams prepare, as well as the level of unpredictability from week to week that is giving me flashbacks.
Freeman is an experienced college coach.
The only problem is the offense, and that falls on Rees as we were told he has complete autonomy. If you want to blame Freeman for that, that's nothing more than Monday-morning quarterbacking of a decision that seemed reasonable when it was made.
As always you'll say anything to defend 'your guy' until the bitter end.
