Is ND facing an uphill battle with “ol mo?” The momentum and rejuvenation from a likely victory this Saturday will be quickly negated by back to back blowout losses in the following two weeks. Where does that leave the team mentally for BC and Navy? Will the team have the “want to” in what will be Navy and BC’s Super Bowl, or do they go ahead and blow one, or both, of those games, before ending with another likely blowout at SC to finish the year? I’m afraid momentum won’t be back on the side of the Irish until after the season (assuming no decommits and/or major defections). Momentum went out the window in a hurry didn’t it?

Especially what aspect of the season so far makes that so definitive for you?
We will all be waiting with baited breath
Which will be less of the "check with me" type plays and a more hurry up type offense. Maybe not full hurry up, but certainly faster paced comparatively. You can expect Pyne to be much sharper, and once the running game gets going, I'd be shocked if there weren't some big plays to be had in the passing game. UNLV will have some chunk plays, we all know that, but in the end UNLV doesn't keep pace. Hopefully I'm right, but you guys watching will know before me. I'll be spending a gorgeous Central Indiana afternoon on the golf course. Only the 2nd game of my life I'll miss, and the 1st time it will be my choice. Enjoy!

We should have blown out Cal, Stanford, and certainly Marshall… and may be BYU. The truth is that we have no idea which version of the team we are going to get from week to week.

Nothing this team, players and coaches alike, gives me the sense that there will any victory this week

or a close win wouldn’t surprise at all.
And when they don't play well, who knows how the game will go.
I have no doubt the defense will do its job well enough to win as usual. The game will be won if the offense plays a solid game. That will depend on Rees. Rees can put together a good gameplan, or a bad one, we'll find out Saturday.
I'm not asking for a superstar preformance, just solid play, beat the less talented players in front of you, and win the game.
But what does that mean if they don’t start stringing together some wins? Ultimately, this may be the game that nobody cares about or even remembers, no matter how big the Irish win…
...but I will listen on the radio.
Probably will be better play calling and teams that will actually play their best players

That said, I do like Freeman as a person from what I have seen and have pulled for him since he was chosen.
What I'm hoping for is that he can ascend the learning curve quickly and that results will improve towards the end of the season. I sort of feel now that the ceiling is at 7-5 with a mid-level bowl win.
I remain fearful that the bottom could drop out on him though as this staff and squad have thus far proven they can play down to anybody...

“This staff” does that include Freeman himself or are you giving him a hall pass?

He wasn't that specific. I took the liberty of reading between the lines. The negativity is a release for us fans and even some humor comes out of it, but it will do the players no good. UNLV has been hammered their last two games, being outscored 82-14. Stop missing tackles. Stop with the veteran stupid penalties. Stop with the fumbles at the worst possible time. Stop with the sure thing over throws. Stop dropping passes. Stop with whatever game planning you're trying to force this offense to run unsuccessfully. C'mon man. These guys of ours can can do this. AF and San Jose St each scored in the 40's against the Fighting Bugsy Siegals. ESPN is beginning to ignore us. They are jerking us around just because of two losses against opponents who have one FBS win between them. Saturday is the day we're gonna go inside, outside, and over the top. I asked my Magic Eight Ball if the Irish will win Saturday. Response was "most likely". Close enough.
