When the stadium had natural grass, it was a disaster by mid season. I've been on the field many times after games and the field conditions during and after the Utah game were really bad. It's a miracle there were no injuries. Frozen mud, uneven, small divots from the 40 to the 40. As early as this past August, players were complaining about the Bears grass field at Soldier Field. Players, coaches, and even the players union. It was recently described as an embarrassment to the Bears organization. Dry area, brown spots, and holes. And this supposedly is Kentucky Blue grass. So, what is the answer? Especially for northern outdoor stadiums? I would really want actual players opinions on turf vs natural grass.
