In that terrible loss to Navy by Weis, there was a great Navy football site which analyzed how Navy exploited ND, and ND never adjusted. Apparently we practiced to charge the same gap ever time, Navy noticed, and their fullback romped for a crazy amount of yards as he just chose the gap that we were ignoring, play after play after play. It was a great write-up of the game--really exposed the chess match that option football executed correctly can be. Granted, it was a very depressing read for Irish fans.

1) They prepared the scout team to practice against this summer so it could be at least a decent representation (minus Navy’s full speed)
2) They practiced some in bye week also
3) He went into his office on Saturday night after the Clemson game to watch Navy film
4) The team practiced on Sunday eve
5) Freeman has experience against the triple option from Cincinnati and once here too…..and Al Golden has some different ideas from his time at Temple vs Army & Navy and against Georgia Tech. They will likely blend some in (hope that does backfire)
6) Rules change prevents cut blocks at 2nd and 3rd level of defense so that helps.
