If you saw that hype video, knew your son could be part of that, could get a top 20 education and be in the top 5 in NFL placements (Bama, GA, OSU and LSU are the only ones better), how do you not send your kid to ND? And specifically, if you want a strong role model for your young man, how is Marcus Freeman not pretty high on the list?
If it's all NIL, well, then those are short money people. The long money is a great education, a network and a top-5 shot at the NFL.

Being recruited for lax. Her turn off is the curfew and ND's unabashed Catholicism. Can't say I blame her. Her choice my support
be so proud of her focus on staying out late and avoiding Catholics.

schools for a completely different and obvious set of reasons. There is a huge gap between what today's 18 - 22 year old deems important and what that same age bracket valued 30-50 years ago. The world is waaaaaay different.
We ain't in Kansas no more, toto!

We do have an elitist snobby attitude over sports and academics. Not everyone wants the ND environment and that’s perfectly fine. Find what you and your kid is most comfortable with. There are schools that can check both boxes. Kids can make the most out of their education and be a success either way at quite a few schools. Contrary to populate belief, the 4 for 40 line does not pertain to just ND.

Perfect for some
the right choice. Educationally, you will do just great at a B 10 land grant university (scUM comes to mind), some of the SEC schools like GA and FL and even shudder to say Southern Cal……one of the top private universities in America.
The high school coach plays an enormous role in player recruitment. If he doesn't want a school speaking to his players, or favors certain programs, that has a bigger impact than parents. Keep in mind, HS coaches are trying to build their programs, and empires. Prime example is Bruce Rollinson at Mater Dei. He's a pipeline to SC, and was to Oregon.
My coach had connections to Cal State football programs, so it was Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Fresno State, who talked to me, and some of my teammates. He also worked at University of the Pacific, so he recommended UOP. He also urged me to take a trip to Occidental College as an alternative when my parents wanted me to focus on education, rather than football. OXY had a very good SCIAC football program. No athletic scholarships, but if they wanted you, and you were a decent student, they'd get you in.
Man, that was so long ago. Hard to believe that was part of my life..
And let’s be honest, ND isn’t for everyone - kid has to find the place where he’ll thrive.
