Truer words were never spoken. Defense needs to reset now for BC and Coach Golden said that is exactly what the staff and players have done. Navy is in the rear view mirror and the defense is all in on BC.
"Every time we've played Navy in Baltimore or The Meadowlands, we had to fight for our lives. I don't know what Navy will come up with, but they will come up with something"......Lou Holtz
Most Irish fans are upset with the second half of Navy , but, the Navy game wasn't the only game that the Irish faced second half failures under this staff. It all started with Okie State. The fact that they played so poorly in the second half, again, came out with a W, and didn't endure any serious injuries that I'm aware of, is better than an L. Let's move on to BC. That won't be a walk in the park either. Throwing a tantrum won't change Saturday.
...average margin of victory over those 11 games was 29.1 points.
Largest victory was by 43 points in 1987.
Oddly enough his closest game versus Navy (away) was a 22-7, 15 point, victory in 1988. Still over a two touchdown margin.
the half and Randy Kinder ran one in from about 80 to tie it up.

Lou's post game quotes after his 22-7 win over Navy in Baltimore. "Couldn't control LOS", "Couldn't throw the ball", "Not mentally alert", "OL got beat up", "Couldn't run inside". ND was favored by five touchdowns. They were outscored in the second half by Navy 7-6. It happened to Lou too. Hopefully, MF and his staff will learn from this. And let us not forget Lou's near catastrophe against a 5-5 Army in '95. It took an Ivory Covington tackle near the goal line on a two point conversion to save the day. One of the great plays in Irish history IMHO .I'm just glad we are having this debate after an Irish win instead of an Irish loss.
Lou used to often say things to press to deliver messages to his team.
Over time there are always going to be close games. Teams do jump up from time to time.
None of Lou’s Navy wins were as “bad” as Freeman’s first.
this year:
Delaware 14 - 7
Memphis 37 -13
Houston. 38 -20
SMU. 40 -34

It doesn't mean anything and nobody cares. You could say the same for a lot of other teams. The Stat has zero value.
Just like TC claiming it’s tough to defend their great receivers
Just stop. You look stupid.
and they throw out of it, it creates many one on one situations in wide spaces where the receiver always has the advantage. An average to below receiver can make a db look bad in this circumstance. Mostly our offense absolutely stunk against Navy in the second half. Our defense was close to stopping them two to three times on that first drive of the second half that took about 10 minutes off the game clock and we never were comfortable on offense after that. If our offense was truly great it should not have meant so much for that to happen, but obviously our offense is not consistent yet.

when a team runs the triple option as inefficiently as they may be ordinarily passing the ball, the triple option creates one on one matchups in space when a pass is called. It happens all the time and eventually the team hits some big plays. It has happened to Holtz against both Navy and Air Force.
Sure sounds like you were dismissing his post and defending our shitshow…whatever, chill out

I’ll cut you some slack for such an asshole comment as I assume you were either drunk or having some personal issues
I said it is a stupid and meaningless stat. Which it is.
Yes, we barely beat a Navy team that we should have blown out. That's because we are very inconsistent and not a very good team right now. I've never claimed otherwise. So, what was your point?
