Never really understood why his path to the HOF has seemingly been so tough. He’s Hall-worthy in my book.

There are simply things you don't say when you're part of a team, and that's one of them.
I don't necessarily blame him for doing an "Ole!" job for that pass, since he would have gotten clocked pretty hard. It's the fact that he said what he said, that painted him into that corner. You just don't do that.
Had he simply kept his mouth shut, the boo birds would have quickly quieted down, but instead, he cemented his legacy as a toxic player.
On another note, Charlie Garner was a class act, both in Philly and San Fran. If anything, he did a fantastic job at San Fran in the late 90's, when those teams weren't quite as talented as the ones that Watters played for while he was there, since they were still paying for all of that massive overspending during that Superbowl run.
As talented as he was, he was highly immature and oculd prove his downfall for the Hall. I hope he
is forgiven for that attitude and rightly inducted into the Hall with an appreciation for the fact that he went back to school obviously more mature and got his degree too.
He was a great player who missed his first year with a season ending injury and ended his career
with another serious injury while still performing very well. The then SF coach loved his competitiveness and obviously his production both running and receiving. He scored three touchdowns in the 49ers Super Bowl win over San Diego. The only thing that may keep him out is people often thought he was a me, me, me player which I don't believe he was. He proved his worth because his confidence did not exceed his productiveness.
Walsh was never his coach.

You are right. But Walsh always loved his talent and the guy who succeeded Walsh appreciated him.
The rest of the message is accurate. You must have been one of his haters because of the fumbles in 1990 against Stanford. Bettis cost us in 1992 against Stanford along with the Derek Brown miss and I loved Bettis.

I loved Rocky Watters. Me pointing out your stupid mistakes has nothing to do with Ricky Watters.
I admitted that I made the mistake regarding Walsh. We could argue all day on mistakes but generally
regarding Watters, I am correct. He had three TDs in a Super Bowl win and piled up if not Hall of Fame, near Hall of Fame stats. And for you to say that the coach that drafted him did not appreciate him... that is pure speculation especially after the aforementioned 3 Super Bowl TDs and great rushing and receiving stats over the years.
