When ND had Kizer and Fuller the play calling seemed amazing.
against top competition. 2016 was abysmal You'll see things differently, but those teams feasted on lesser teams and struggled mightily against better teams.

Brady made a lot of money for the Belichick coaching tree...most of it was undeserved...

His offenses would go entire quarters or halves without doing anything then blow up for one quarter so the final stats looked good.
Never forget this...Weis was the Mastermind who failed to pick up a single first down for the first 3 Quarters against USC.
That alone forbids him from ever being considered a Great OC.
He may know a thing or two more about this than we do. Just sayin.
Seems like everything kept trucking right along up until Tom Brady left.
passing offense this past season ranked 101st out of 131 programs. We averaged just below 200 yards passing per game. If the right opportunity was there for an NFL job that he thought was going to be good for him then I think he'd take it. But I think he would like to look for the next step coming off a far stronger offensive season than the 2022 season and I think he is probably looking for a QB that will allow him to do that. If successful, I wouldn't be surprised for him to make the move after next season.
It would be stupid to either cut him loose or not try to match any other offers he gets. Pyne was a liability even though his overall numbers were pretty good. And after three full seasons as the OC, Rees has to now have the necessary experience and training to do a great job. But if he doesn't in 2023, I'm all for a change.

Which isn't true. As far as "seat temperature," I'd put Rees at well less than 50% being let go. He might leave on his own, or get fired. But these decisions tend to be made ASAP. He's a good enough recruiter as an OC, but not a rock star, so they aren't keeping him around for signing day. And if they are, that's stupid, because players can leave as they please nowadays.
Funny thing
i'm betting 100% tr as the oc for nd in 2022.

he is, he's only been in one picture, but the staff has visited every one. There are transfer QBs available, but it's not as if ND is looking at 100. He's not flying all over the country talking to transfer QBs. My sense is he is interviewing as a QB coach in the NFL.
I saw the pic of him in the new QBs house. Maybe he is back at ND to prep for the game.....might be that simple. Otherwise if he left, I wouldn't cry.
