Don’t watch Wake and know very little about him. Good or bad? Thoughts and opinions? Lots of mixed reaction from what I can tell.
He's a big upgrade from who's in the QB room now.

Seeing them both they're about the same exact height as im a shade taller than both at 6'0 1/2" and Book probably is a tad heavier...Both 6'0 even

He is the best available in the portal, including those who have already transferred.
developing of the QB room. You get someone that you know can do the job. I think it will be a good competition in the spring.
Between TB and Angeli's development this season and having another spring, Minchey coming in January and now Hartman, the QB room will be 1000x better heading into fall than it was this year.
Kid is an excellent decision maker, accurate, throws a great deep ball, is tough as nails and is a leader.
Huge get for ND if true.
I've seen tons of him as my older brother was a former RB and coach on the staff at Wake. I know that people on this board are vastly overrating him because of his experience and numbers in that Wake "slow mesh" offense. He is a very good college player with limited upside. He actually DOESN'T have a strong arm but it's above average, The GOOD he is accurate on short (screen and swings) to medium (post corner) range throws. Best traits are on short routes putting the ball in position for YAC and those middle range seam throws. I love his fiery demanor too even though he has toned it down a bit since Soph year.
For the BAD, well undersized listed at 6'1 210 but is same height as me 6'0" and closer to 205 so he is in that Book mold. If flushed he tends to throw the ball up carelessly and without the great arm talent ball to drive the ball leads to INTs (25 last 2 years). OVERALL ACCURACY (59% for career) Deep throws will sink and come up short as he doesn't drive the ball and throws more of a looping ball. Oddly struggles to sense pressure despite having very good footwork and took alot of unnecessary sacks.
But i'm guessing people prefer Hartman since he has 1yr of eligibility over the better talent in Card because he has 3 to play 2. I can see him being in the Coan range for us as a QB with more mobility but certainly less accuracy.
but the kid can throw the deep ball with ease, in the pocket or on the run, and with accuracy.
very nice.
Throws a looping deep ball he's a pretty good QB just not wanting ppl to get their hopes up!!

I mean he should definitely be 65% in our offense but then again which system do we run? He's used to that "slow mesh" offense and Rees like that "slow ass" draw delay offense...I could see Coan type numbers with around 3200-3400yds passing and 28/8 ratio which would be a nice year.
fantastic.
So question is, what was going on in those two back to back games that accounted for 6 of his 11 interceptions?
He doesn't do a good job of sensing pressure or stepping up in the pocket and will either take a sack or throw it up for grabs.
and had zero time to throw.
Give this kid ND's oline and skill position talent and ND's offense could be special.

That said, he played in a pass heavy offense in a really bad conference. Numbers were likely. Definitely a good pick up though but hope the current QB’s get their shot.
