1. A WIN!!!
We are so used to losses in New Year's bowl games that it's sickening. Like last year when we blew a 21 pt. lead to OSU. It feels so damn good to win one of these things.
2. Weren't we all nervous wrecks, basket cases, for almost 4 hours yesterday?
3. Shane Beamer was smiling and yucking it up early in the game; however, he transitioned to Shame Beamer after that, with a never ending stream of F-bombs for the officials. Classy guy!
4. Congratulations, Marcus! That W will do wonders for you and the program. It will set a positive tone for '23.
5. Patterson will get drafted, but he played anyway, got injured, and still came back. He'll have much fonder memories of his last game at ND than his two observer teammates.
6. Who doesn't dig Logan?
7. And Lenzy with the key play of the game on the fake punt?
8. And our ST coach for designing and calling it?
9. Kudos to Tyler Buchner for getting the job done. Gutsy.
10. Lorenzo Styles, it's your turn to break out in '23.
11. It's hard to put "great call" and Rees in the same sentence, but it's true on the misdirection pass for the game-winning TD to Evans.
12. Why did Rees keep running the ball up the middle on first down with so little to show for it? (Sorry, couldn't help myself).
13. A WIN, once again. How sweet it is!
14. Happy New Year to all! Go Irish! ☘
He was supposed to have a big time breakout this year, but due to the QB play, that breakout went to the guy who didn't really need a breakout season (Mayer).
It was great to see his stepping up his game, and coming through in the clutch. If he gets a shot at the NFL combines, I think he'll impress with his physical abilities, and he'll definitely get that chance at ND Pro Day.

maturity. It is a maturity that neither Kelly or Beamer will ever show and an example for the young men of ND that we should be proud of in our coach, whatever his current shortcomings are given he is still early on the HC learning curve.
#9. Buchner has what it takes to be a really good FBS QB. The tools and the talent but also the psychological aspect of it. Tommy Rees didn't need to yell at him to "suck it the fuck up" and he had a lot of opportunities to fold. He kept going and made the plays to help the team win in the end. 350+ yards of offense and 5 total touchdowns. I'm glad he was the player of the game and got the victory formation kneel down.
#12. They were crashing the middle. Zone read with a guy like Buchner taking it to the outside would make that inside run unstoppable with our backs and line. I don't think they felt comfortable doing a lot of that given that Buchner was coming back from injury.
I think the change came when Rees started calling more quick pass plays to the RBs on the perimeter. Diggs TD and Tyree as well. That helped prevent them from being able to crash the middle and opened up the running game and helped improve the pass protection.

.....full of excuses, immature, unable to control his emotions on or off the field. One would think that ND had its full compliment of players. Imagine if South Carolina had to play without its starting QB. Also imagine losing a first round draft pick on both sides of the ball as ND did. Excuses are for losers.
Beamer reminds me very, very much of Brian Kelly sans the purple face.

Feels so great to finally win a freakin' bowl game!
I had the same thought about Patterson. Similarly, I nearly spit up my beer when the sideline reporter was interviewing Mayer and Foskey and said 'You guys weren't going to miss this for the world.' Um....they did miss it, sweetheart.
I'll allow myself just one bitch this morning....how many times did we start drives with a 2nd and 9 situation? There were several. Our 1st down, 1 yard runs up the middle was a bit frustrating.
Really happy for the whole team, especially Lenzy.
Way to go Irish!
I didn’t.
My comment was clearly related to the dumb comment by the sideline reporter.
I applaud Patterson for playing.

He played well enough to win.
His inconsistency is a concern.
His character is not.
to have a short memory of your mistakes and do the job. He’s also a tough mo fo.
Continue to question his abilities as a passer.
I've watched other "meaningless" bowl games where you would think that the players involved were playing in a semi final game. It was that important to them. It was that important to our players and staff yesterday. I have no problem with Fosk and Michael on the sideline. It's not like they have never contributed to the Irish program. We have to admit, we all got nervous when Patterson went down.
