He may be the better of the portal QB's transferring this season but that doesn't make him

the next Caleb Williams transferring. He's a below 60% passer with a high interception rate. I just don't
see the excitement. The only person getting a good deal on this is Hartman.

The one, and only one thing he has over any of the ND QB's now or committed is experience.

Had Buchner come out in the bowl game and completely lost it and then Angeli came into the game
and couldn't handle it, I'd agree, Hartman pick-up would be a smart and maybe an ideal choice, but
Buchner didn't suck, he didn't melt down and he carried the offense in that 4th quarter. Buchner
became a leader for the Offense.

Now Buchner will be splitting valuable time and snaps with Hartman and Angeli which only accomplishes
a negative and not just for the QB's but everyone on offense.

It's like fantasy football has come to the college ranks and a bunch of Saturday night drinking pals are
getting off on who they can trade for.

His picks and completion percentage can be explained.

1. He started as a true freshman.

2. Many of his picks were on deep 50/50 balls, to less than stellar WR's.

3. Those same WR's dropped many a pass from Sam.

4. His olines weren't great.

5. He will be the best QB to take a snap at ND since Kiser.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

And we have a risk of losing Buchner if promises were made to Hartman

Bringing in Hartman has some downside risks

Well, I don't see any real upsides to his being taken. ND loses a scholli too.

I, too, don't think it's clear he's that much better than Buchner. He's an interception machine. Wait till he throws a couple in a close loss (obviously hope this doesn't happen, but that's his history).

Many here see Coan as a success and he wasn't. He was mediocre at best. ND

lost a full season in development and experience for the young QB's.

Coan was immobile, had poor vision reading defenses, didn't have a great arm,
slow at seeing the field and quite plainly wasn't all that great. Having him as the Starting QB set this
team a year behind in development (I blame Kelly) but now, it's Freeman and
Rees who are doing it.

We just have to trust Freeman and Rees know what they're doing
