Link: New Notre Dame Quarterback Sam Hartman's 2022 Highlights
Observations from the highlight video:
1. Like the way he steps up in the pocket. Shows courage and does not panic.
2. Nice touch; places the ball on the money. Granted, this is a highlight video, but it looked quite good,
3. Not T Buch when it comes to using his feet, but he has the ability to escape and/or make quick decisions, when needed and appropriate.
1. He has good escapability in the pocket, but he'll stand tall in the pocket if needed.
2. He throws very well on the run.
3. He really is a dual threat QB. He runs well.
4. He puts air under deep balls, so they are easier to catch, and you can run under them.
5. He's accurate.
Sam has tons of experience and poise. He's a great pickup for the Irish.
…every highlight has him rolling right. That means if he did roll left, it didn't make the highlight reel.
He will need work on this, but what great QB skills. Nice mobility - not Buchner fast, but decent. And the arm , the touch, the accuracy are all excellent.
I feel good about this Fall.
lead most of his receivers in stride. His balls are way under thrown or overthrown with an occasional on target pass.
He doesn't look to be a horrible QB, but he doesn't look like a world beater the way most of you keep saying he is.
I don't see him as an upgrade.
he can improve his accuracy and touch.
I love Buchner - I can’t remember a player with a better attitude. But he needs to improve a lot still. Hartman throws a nice, catchable deep ball. If he can learn that from Hartman….
I think of someone who is exceptional I think of Bryce Young, Trever Lawrence, Clausen QB's like that. Hartman isn't one of them.
And the only way he will get better at the game is on the field on game day.
This was at best a lateral get by ND. If MF gifted the position to Hartman, he will have made another big mistake at the QB position.
Dante Moore fiasco is another fiasco.
This whole thing could go sideways so fast. Both Buchner and Angeli could just transfer out. There is not real time-line for them to
make a decision on leaving. After the spring semester and after the Spring Game, they can both bolt.
Hope not, but this was a move MF didn't need to make.
