That's a big deal after losing Bowen. You have you three man safety rotation intact with Brown, Watts and Henderson. Harper replaces Bracy as your slot with Hart and Morrison on the outside and Mickey in reserve. That's a nice defensive backfield.

Morrison-esque freshman season. I think they (and Morrison) have the elite upside that we haven't had for awhile at the CB position.
The reports out of the AA practices and game is that Bell is still really raw.
Gray is one of the highest rated CBs we've landed in years, but I don't think it's reasonable to think the Morrison will be the norm. The norm remains that freshman need a couple of years to be ready. We hope Gray will be an exception, but it's unlikely. There is plenty of depth in front of him which will make it hard for him to be a significant part of the rotation in 2023.
The good news is that CB seems solid in 24 and 25.
It sounded like Bell was impressing. "He (Micah Bell) looked healthy on Wednesday, turning in some of the best coverage reps among any player in attendance." - RYAN ROBERTS JAN 5, 2023
Either way, Morrison had veterans Lewis, Hart, Bracy in front of him this year, as well as other young DBs, but he still shined. There will be injuries in the secondary, like there always is, and I wouldn't be surprised if Gray and Bell passed the other corners on the team. Just saying, it would be a good problem to have.
Else is going to have to get dropped from the roster. I hope guys leave because they choose to and we get Under the 85 limit. Wouldn’t be very good if underclass are ‘encouraged’ to leave if we are keeping multiple 6 year guys like brown and Salerno. I don’t have anything against them but this is roster management. Hopefully the staff knows what’s going on with most players. We have absolutely no idea where any of this is heading.
Not getting Bowen and losing Joseph seemed to open 2 safety spots...1 for the OSU transfer and 1 for Brown.
I haven't seen anything regarding Salerno as of yet.
I thought it was announced Salerno is coming back.

from a snaps standpoint in the Gator Bowl against South Carolina. Watts had 62 snaps and Henderson played 51, with Brown registering 42 snaps in the game. Notre Dame likes to rotate at least three safeties per game, and without Brown returning the Irish might have been forced to play a freshman in 2023, or would be forced to move another player to the position."
