Freedom and Meritocracy.
Freedom not woke:
Can we not watch a game anymore without the CRT and 1619 Project indoctrination? End zones painted "End Racism." Pads at the base of goalposts with "Stop Hate" on them. A coach like Kyle Shanahan of the 49ers walking around with a jacket that says "Justice" and "Equity" on the back. Why not just walk around with sandwich boards to do a better job of virtue signaling? And, of course, put little woke messages on the back of the helmets. Are you ready for some football?
Can we just watch a football game and not be inundated with woke indoctrination? Especially, when you realize that the great majority of fans in the stands, those who watch at home, and those who buy the merchandise, are white. NFL wealth comes from Joe Sixpack and guys like the SNL fans who love Da Bears. Play to your audience, not to woke intimidation.
Meritocracy not identity politics:
Can we get rid of the Rooney Rule right now? It's gotten crazier: Now you are forced to interview, not one, but two minority candidates, before you pick a head coach. Why not extend this thinking to marriage licenses: Before you get one, you have to prove that you courted at least two minorities, before you make your choice. So, let's strip away the bs: Hire who you want to hire and marry who you want to marry. Meritocracy!
When you play identity politics, it often doesn't go well: You get a two'fer for VP, but she's a cackling incompetent; you hire a token gay who knows nothing about transportation, insists on more bike lanes, complains of "racist" bridges, and can't get planes to fly on schedule; and you get another two'fer for the SC who doesn't know what a woman is.
So, too, in the NFL: You force the insertion of women officials into the game; and you get another two'fer woman to become a full time assistant RB coach for the Washington Commanders of the NFL. There's no real need for this. It doesn't improve the game. It's surrendering to woke expectations, trying to be ahead of the game, so to speak.
On the other hand, there are cases like Kevin Warren, where there's a highly qualified black man, who gets the job based on true meritocracy. Warren was just hired to be the CEO of the Bears, and the Bears truly wanted him; they were not pressured into selecting him. Warren has a great background: MBA from Arizona St.; Notre Dame '90 law degree; COO of the Minnesota Vikings who oversaw the construction of their new stadium; Big Ten Commissioner who wooed USC and UCLA into the Big Ten. The Bears want him to lead the way and can really use his help to build their new stadium complex.
Freedom and meritocracy merged when the Bears chose Warren. It's said that Warren has hopes of replacing Roger Goodell eventually as the NFL Commissioner, and I would approve of that in a minute. No longer would we hear boos when woke, phony Roger approached the podium for the NFL draft announcements.
Finally, all of this woke, identity politics is despised by the fans, the silent majority. A great proof of this is the recent case of Ivan Provorov of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers: He refused to wear the designated jersey for the recent Gay Pride night in Philadelphia. He said that he respects all people, but he couldn't wear the jersey because of his Russian Orthodox faith. Heresy! Not really! Since then, Provy's jerseys have been flying off the shelves in stores. Fans respect the Christian morality and the courage of the man, not woke totalitarianism.
NFL, it's time to stop the woke bullshit!
Here's a "sport" that involves morbidly obese men who have very limited skills and who play a maximum of 6 minutes each out of a four hour event.
Most of the "plays" accomplish very little.
There's been very little innovation in the sport for years.
During the Superbowl most of the audience is more focused on the ads than the game.
There are very few elite quarterbacks and it's virtually impossible to win playoff games without one.
Most damningly... a high chunk of the fans are more interested in their fanatsy teams than any NFL club.
So maybe this is why wokeness has infiltrated to fill a huge vacuum.

I think it's a bit over the top, and I disagree that it is actually a problem, but only because I believe it creates evolutionary pressure. The NFL and every other corporate entity has to overshoot on these types of philosophical and social issues in order to find the sweet spot for the time, which is a moving target. And opinions of people like you are a critical part of that dynamic.

I was so pleased with my response to Tia that I didn't even read the rest of that thread.

It's only creepy because he has made several attempts to draw what he imagines I look like. He did a series where he drew me with eagles talons and wings.
How would I be able to type with eagles talons and wings, Frank? It doesn't make sense.
Assuming you are talking about Frank_L.
And the fact that corporations want to have a hand in it should tell you a lot.

don’t know one way or the other but there have to be women that can be just as good as men in these roles. And I think it would chauvinistic to suggest otherwise.
