I have no problem with it if players have no chance of seeing the field. NDN nerds having a conniption fit about it.
The NCAA Division I rule addresses the status of an athletic scholarship in this situation in Bylaw 15.5.1.7 “Aid After Departure of Head Coach.”
Basically, this rule says that when a head coach who recruited and provided a scholarship to a DI student-athlete is replaced, the new head coach has the right to not invite an athlete back to the team the following year.
The athlete may, however, be given the right to stay at the school on scholarship until the athlete graduates with their degree.

In fact, they are professionals now in CFB across the Power 5. Not producing results or living up to billing results in being cut in the real world. They are being treated very well by giving them their $80k/yr for 4 yr scholarships and a very meaningful degree.
This is still coddling by professional standards. They wanted to be paid. This goes with it.
Someday everyone is going to be told this is the “end of the line”, that’s why “senior day” is such a big deal in high school.
They are still getting the degree & the scholarship.
There’s only 85 spots on the roster. With NIL & the portal, those are earned.
In life, there’s unintended consequences when change is involved. The invention of the home computer & Google made buy encyclopedias or dialing 411 obsolete. Email & electronic pay made using stamps & the postal system less vital.
The other side of NIL (players are compensated aka “we aren’t in Kansas anymore”) & the portal (players can leave & those roster holes have to be filled).
Imho, it’s kind of like this on one hand the players can leave & get paid, on the other hand the coach has the flexibility to improve his roster, fill holes & get the best 85 players he can.
This provides both upward & downward mobility. A two star who plays like a 5 star will be courted & compensated as much, the same goes for the 5 star who plays like a 2 star. Much like many other situations in our society.
As Frank Sinatra sings “That’s Life” 🎵
Just my 2 cents, as always I could be wrong.
I know we certainly have our share of lame-ass commentary here but they think they are so enlightened. The key folks there bully the rest of the board with impunity and talk out of both sides of their mouths.
Under Kelly, when a guy chose to leave ND, they would mockingly call it "roster management" and said Kelly was forcing good players to leave, that Kelly was bad at player development. When these players don't pan out at the schools they end up as, you don't hear a peep about it.
Under Freeman, despite all the roster changes, they haven't used that phrase as yet but seemed okay with it. The big stink there now is because a player allegedly was told there may not be a spot on the roster. No one there of course has any idea what the conversation was between the coaching staff and the player. Assclown #1 has been subtly playing both sides of the Hartman discussion, both suggesting he might be good while mocking his reported height. He has also been playing both sides of the Freeman discussion (i.e., good choice/not-so-good choice). No matter what happens, he will say, "I told you so."
It is comical to follow.

Very comical.
Someone will always argue with me, that if you dig through a cesspool thoroughly, you're bound to find a few valuable things.
I don't dispute that NDNation has some valid posters, and that they're decent folks, but I simply refuse to go there, because digging through a cesspool will get you coated with foul muck. Why go there to glean a few nuggets of info, when I can peruse this site and get better info?

Also humorous is the schedule discussions.Unless ND is playing the Bamas, OSUs, Gas of the world EVERY week, the schedule is pansy ass notwithstanding there are numerous cupcakes on every schedule
See scUM' s schedule.
Tools like ACross, Jvan, ElKabong and other members of their elitist cult slam everything, from the turf to the uniforms to the color of the toilets. If they had their way, we’d still be wearing leather helmets and playing in a 30000 seat stadium. The irony is that these hypocrites sure seem to be at a lot of the games regardless. And yes, we should play Georgia, Bama, OSU, U$C and Michigan every week.
