Every coach in the football world knows that there will always be people who will throw negativity towards them, no matter what the results. Lou himself stated that after his first year at ND, where the team went 5-6, everyone was hollering at him for a sub-.500 season.
After 1987's dramatic improvement, where we landed in the Cotton Bowl, finishing the year at 8-3-1, he still got shitloads of negativity thrown his way, where everyone wanted him to win *all* of those games.
In 1988 after the national championship, he still got negativity thrown his way, where people were grumbling about how he didn't win by large enough margins.
Now, imagine something like that in today's world where most folks have internet access, and can quickly let their griping voices be heard.
Tommy Rees will go or stay as he chooses, as long as he doesn't get fired or Coach Freeman decides to let him go. I'm sure he's read many of the negative things I've said about him here as a player (no mobility, weak arm, overthinks too much, etc), yet here he is as our OC...
