For Tommy, that's a better springboard to the NFL and for his development. Far more talent at Alabama right now, especially on the offensive side of the ball. ND will be closer in a few years, but certainly not right now. More importantly, Rees's development will benefit as a coach. That's really important for Tommy Rees at this point in his coaching career. Nick Saban is a seriously smart guy and a phenomenal coach. Working under him will only grow Rees into the coach he can be. Saban must see something if he wants to take him in.
For ND, the OC position is the most important position for Marcus Freeman on his staff. Not only does that individual pretty much run the offensive side of the ball, as Freeman is more of a defensive coach, but that is the most important recruiting position on the offensive side. Freeman needs to complete his staff with who he wants in the OC position. That's what is best for the program.

If he has as many football smarts as I think he has (not the same as football wisdom), and can learn from Saban like Kirby Smart did, then I'd be all for it.
Otherwise, if he continues to try to fit round pegs into square holes, then that becomes a "no bueno" situation.

The recruits are pledging to play under him, coordinators are secondary.
And is NOT a reason to keep Reese
