There won't be any mutual interest, but if somehow lightning struck...
Not Chryst.

6'5" receivers who only seem to be able to fend off smaller corners for a jump ball, beat Oregon on a semi regular basis, and he doesn't do much, if any, screaming...
He has been trying to run that same run-heavy West Coast Offense that Harbaugh still runs, but doesn't have the know-how, or the athletes to make it happen in this day and age, since his recruiting isn't anywhere nearly as what Harbaugh was getting at Stanford, much less Michigan.
2018 was the last time he had any real measure of success with it, and only because the Pac 12 was pretty weak.
My opinion of him is that he wouldn't know how to be flexible with a new team designed for a K-gun / spread hybrid attack. If anything, I'd predict that trying to force the WCO into this team would be similar to 2002, where Willingham and Diedrick tried to turn a power option running team into one that ran that simplified finesse West Coast Offense that was all too predictable.

I'd love to know who says there is "mutual interest"
There has been some really stupid dead carp floating around with guys literally making things up to fill their quota.
Some of the random names floating around.
Ron Powlus? He's hasn't coached since 9 years and he's going to be the OC?
Bryan Leftwich? Last year he was the hot commodity as an NFL head coach and has never coached in college yet he's a possibility?
Joe Brady? This almost has milk coming out of my nose. Why the hell would he want to be the OC at ND?

I’m never seen a more unimaginative offense in my life.

David Shaw can get numerous jobs much better than working at ND.
Chryst will probably end up at a low-profile school to rebuild his creds.
