A man among boys, and despite his large size, he was one of those guys who could have played anywhere on the front seven. Heck, he could even step in at safety if needed.

There were so many times, he was already into the backfield despite being double or triple teamed, whether it be on a running or passing play. He could run down any quarterback or running back, and had a great knack for reading where they would be cutting.

He was a great player, but an even better man and one of the best representatives of the Golden Dome, both on and off the field.

It was a sad day when complications from the Wuhan virus claimed his life.

returner, running back and he even blocked a punt in a close win over Michigan State. Rocket was our best player ever and he did it in only three years. He also did not fumble and as I recall Tim Brown fumbled the opening kickoff against Purdue that really cost us that game as a freshman. Ross Browner was our second greatest player who had a sterling career that included two national championships where he was the key player from the position of defensive end. Sorry Alan Page you were great but Ross was greater as a college player. Paul Hornung must have been up there as he was probably the best all around pro player. The old guys must have been great too but I know little about them.

1947 AP Athlete of the Year. 1947 Heisman Trophy winner. Three time National champion (1943, 1946, 1947). Lettered in football, baseball, basketball, and track. Two time unanimous All American (1946, 1947). He was a two way player for Leahy. And if all that wasn't enough, his college career was interrupted by WWII in which he served in the Navy chasing down German subs.

Thread Level: 5

OK I'll go with Lujack. Also the famous tackle against Army.
