If the HC and OC are learning on the job, what is the excuse for the OL coach.

His boys upfront have too many penalties, have trouble picking up the blitz (other
teams seem to disguise/execute their blitz better than ND). They don't seem to get
much of a push up the middle for the most part. A couples of plays last night the
center and rt. guard got pancaked. With an inexperienced (and injured) WR group
ND has to lean on this group.

OL has done well this year. Duke brought more than they could handle and we couldn’t make them pay

for it because we weren’t winning on the outside and didn’t have any adjustments from the OC. Rudolph has done a nice job and hopefully they grow as the year goes on.

I think the whole team needs to take a deep breath and regroup. It’s been a stressful couple of weeks.

To be fair, this is the first bad game from the OL

For me the questions begins with...

WHY IN THE HELL IS ANY ND COACH "LEARNING ON THE JOB?"

Name ONE ND head coach who was successful (as in won a national championship) that was NOT a head coach somewhere else before coming to ND (Rockne excluded)

Leahy, Parseghian, Devine, Holtz... all were head coaches prior to coaching at ND.

So why in the hell are we hiring novices to be our head coach???

This is NOTRE DAME, for Christ's sake... we can hire experienced people!!!!!

Just like what happens in job interview sometimes you take a chance based on potential and you groom

the candidate. We seem to be playing a better brand of football now and Marcus is the type of person you take a chance with patience in hopes he will become great.

ND wants the right fit and won’t pay a quality coach. They

Want an ND man before they hire a capable experienced coach. They hire from the fringes

Holtz was experienced but not highly successful either. Since holtz we have had shit hires. Freeman might be good some day but not learning at ND.
