I’ve been watching the same thing since the administration chased Holtz out in ‘96. The Notre Dame administration has no desire to have the football team be the face of the university and thus will never win another championship. They view the football program with disdain and only as an easy source of money. (Notre Dame’s total financial endowment is over $20 billion)
It’s very simple: You are what you are. If the administration was interested in a real competitive football program, that was constantly spoken in the same breath as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson they would be.
