In no other sport is the importance of every game so striking as in college football.

That's why it's so exciting to watch. The stakes are so high for every game.

Georgia was the two-time defending national champion with a 29 game winning streak, but a close loss to Bama kept them out of the CFP and dropped them to #6.

We went to the final play with Ohio St. and lost the game by inches. Deep down, we knew that there was a very good chance that the loss would prevent us from getting into the CFP. That's how big that one play was and how big that one game was.

The new 12 team playoff will lessen the impact of a single loss and that will really help our chances and give us a little more leeway. However, the lack of a conference final will still make it harder for us than the others. We won't be able to get another win for our resume.

Nevertheless, every game will be huge and we will still sweat bullets every time we watch a game.

Will it be blissful misery or miserable bliss?

Not anymore after the CFP decision. Also, playing hard OOC games like FSU did gains nothing now.

12 team playoff this year would have been a killer. Throw in Georgia, FSU, Oregon and OSU.

Still 4 more teams to choose. I think 10-2 would get ND in but a low seed. 9-3 probably not.

It would have been fun.

A 9-3 ND will never make the playoff.

10-2 would be unlikely.

11-1 and I would be sweating, unless they had some big wins on the resume.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
