Eric Goins, 30 year old Army veteran.
I strongly doubt that he'll wrest that position away from Mitch Jeter, but it's nice to have a reserve kicker with a strong a reasonably accurate leg.

it is not clear as to whether he is still on active duty. What I do know is that the Army will pay for an advanced degree in exchange for a commitment of added years after the original required years of service. Anyone know if he is still active regular Army or re-entered civilian life with an honorable discharge? He is at the length of service where he is due to be promote to field grade officer which is when the Army will pay for a graduate degree before sending you to Leavenworth for Field Grade Officer Training which is generally when officers will commit to at least 20 years of service. Capt. Goins likely has his sight set on 30 years and reaching 2 stars. My guess is that is where he is headed after ND if he has not been discharged but the articles are not clear.

Engineer and officer. . Smart guy but his leadership and decisions making skills are first rate. Great guy as well.
In terms of ND students. this is the type of person u don’t usually encounter regularly at 20 years old unless it’s a family member or close friend of a parent. I think any student, ND or not, athlete or not, can benefit from an individual with experience like this.
Matter. It’s worth having someone like this on the team and around the program.
Great addition
