you die in the past “ Mike Ditka
the game of the week at best.
Today, both teams would likely end up in the Top 12.
A couple weeks later they voted the loser #1 over the winner with identical records.
So how much meaning did it REALLY have?

forget your little girl feelings.
In reality, how meaningful was THE GAME OF THE CENTURY when stupid F'ing pollsters just erased what happened on the field and voted the WINNER of THE GAME OF THE CENTURY #2 behind the team that lost that game.
The only logical conclusion is that game didn't mean shit. People are fussing about how meaningless regular season games are now with a playoff. I'd rather have a system where we get to decide it on the field than go back to a system where we had GAMES OF THE CENTURY that pollsters could just vote meaningless a few weeks later.

obviously I know it was a huge game, heck I was watching it on my honeymoon with my practice wife.
But when pollsters can come a few weeks later and declare the game meaningless by ranking them 1 and us 2, that is not a glory day to pine for.
Let's have our games of the century in the playoffs, where biased pollsters can't declare the win meaningless.

We know who the only Champ really was and aside from it resulting in a banner in our rafters, the game had additional meaning as it prodded the AP to change when they crown their champ.
