And he was evil. Right? I mean, if this new guy adopts some of the same ideas evil Jack had, and the board pretty much agrees that evil Jack about destroyed ND athletics, what does it mean about the new guy?
Like, just think - evil Jack Swarbrick also thought it might be okay and even good if ND football stayed independent. If the new guy thinks that too, does it mean evil Jack had a good idea?
little misleading. We will make about the equivalent of the ACC and Big12 teams with the CFP while a little less than the B10/SEC, and a bit under the B10/SEC (but above the ACC and Big12) in our TV deal. That is not a "great financial deal" compared to what they could get. But at the same time is easily acceptable given that we are so well-heeled monetarily that we don't care about the difference.
Not being in a conference, playing in that signature game and getting a quality win
was a barrier for ND with the 4 team format. So now ND will most certainly make
the playoffs while maintaining the notionally superior economic value of staying
independent.
Wow.

Tough set of circumstances.
If it were me, I would tell them privately that Angeli is #1 (or Minchey if he beats him out this Spring), and that Leonard will have a limited chance this Fall to show himself to be a definitively better option against Texas A&M. Leonard's big advantage was to be his mobility which now will have to be proven to actually still be an advantage after his second ankle surgery.
Nothing is written in stone for the rest of the season after the first game where there will be more time for QB eval and soul searching.
Freeman needs to protect the locker room moral and QB depth. .
But why do you think Leonard and Angeli are essentially equals when Angeli played one game against a bunch of second stringers in a relatively meaningless bowl game? To me that tells me you don’t think much of Leonard which isn’t a good sign
than it actually merited.
Btw, there is a flaw in the deal for ND potentially since the determiners of the rankings are comprised of conference people. ND may find it no easier to be ranked in the top 11 to get a spot.
