He had (and still has, to some extent) to go through a learning curve, but from the outside looking in, it sure looks like this guy gets it.
Relentless recruiter and now assembling a staff that seems more than competent. Appears open and willing to learn. Good football mind.
The history of other failed coaches is well documented with their reasons for failure. I don't see any of the same in Freeman.

national championship (2013 BCS National Championship Game) since the program’s last national championship in 1988, losing both College Football Playoff appearances by a combined 61-17, and winless in their last 10 New Year’s Six bowl appearances, Bevacqua didn’t shy away from the pressure to perform in the postseason.”

Despite Brian Kelly being thought of as an offensive guru, the offense wasn't very good at all, coming in at around 84th out of 124 teams.
That defense was spectacular (2nd out of 124 teams), and came up with all too many lucky stops.
Even with that amazing defense we still needed help from the refs during that Pitt game where we foolishly had two guys on the field goal defense unit wearing the same number. Thankfully, the refs didn't see it, otherwise Pitt could have re-kicked the ball and won the game.

mean that we should adopt this model for future hires, but I certainly like where the needle is pointing with MarcusFreeman.
I posted a month or so ago, if he wins 11-12 games this year he will have won more games in his first three years than any of our recent HCs, including Holtz.
Obviously the NC remains the ultimate separator, but there doesn't seem to be the red flag indicators of a pending decline like we've seen in the past.
Elite coaches win NCs. He’s got a chance.
we can kick down the door on the championship drought.
When you have arguably the best combo coordinators in all of college football, you don’t have to be an elite coach. Ask Jim Lee Howell.
