I travel there enough to know. I was shocked at the deep ties ND has in Ireland. I figured they would dislike us more than the others because of our stupid looking mascot. But it is quite the opposite in general.
If you ever get a chance, visit the Trinity College bookstore in Dublin. They have a whole section devoted to Notre Dame. In fact, they share programs….(as ND also does with UCD), and the schools even share some large donors who support the business schools and economics Dept at both schools. (My child is at ND, and spent time studying at Trinity as well).
There is NO comparison - even if you just consider tourist dollars.
