Yeah his team won the NC. The handful of times that I saw him I never thought he would get drafted, let alone in the first round.
What do I know?!….
Couldn’t wait to do the wave to the children’s hospital. I thought it was really cool.
Harbaugh played QB in the NFL and developed Andrew Luck at Stanford.
I wish him good luck, except when he plays the Bears.

He has serious weapons in Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson to throw to and a versatile back in Aaron Jones

Agreed. All McCarthy was at Michigan was an above average game manager according to some of the draft "experts" .
One of those picks where they ask wtf were we thinking in 3 years

He would have tried to turn him into a dink 'n dunk passer, instead of letting him be the downfield passer that he thrived at being.
No quarterback thrived under Rees' tutelage, except for Ian Book, and I actually credit Book for succeeding despite Rees being his coach. In 2019, there was a stretch of time where Rees tried to force Book to be a carbon copy of what he was in 2013, and it was no surprise that the offense was stifled. Once he let him be his usual gunslinger self, those problems magically disappeared.
McCarthy did a fine job in 2023. While Roman Wilson had a good season, including 12 TD catches, he wasn't exactly the spitting image of what you'd expect out of a WR1, and McCarthy managed to put up some solid numbers despite not having that dominant WR1.
Funny you say that because a couple of the draft "experts" said McCarthy was often a dink & dunk type QB the majority of the time JJ was the QB.
When I saw McCarthy playing, he was a sharp, downfield passer who could exploit all ranges of the field. He showed good field vision, and wouldn't hesitate to throw to any part of the field.
That forced defenses to play more loosely, and opened up a lot more running space for Corum and Edwards.
