..."and unfortunately, that is what is what some guys are looking for....they want to be bought"
From the guy who jumped for the bag like a fat, purple tuna.

As the article pointed out, didn't he leave ND for LSU so that he could have access to better resources and fewer restrictions? He has both of those at his complete disposal.
Now that he has been at LSU for a couple of years, and has had very good recruiting classes, he doesn't have any excuses remaining to at least get them to playoffs contention.
Even with the loss of players via the transfer portal, there's an abundance of talent on that team (Ed Orgeron wasn't a slouch when it came to recruiting).

I'd like to end that false narrative now. Did Purple Face know when he took the LSU job he'd be practicing in a Morton Building?
He made his bed, now he has to sleep in it.
Seriously, though, there's plenty of talent on that team, and he has no excuses for not getting to at least playoff contention.

It is basically the wild west with no regulations or even rules around it.

..after paying his tab.
Love how he says playing for championships multiple times like that's just what he does.
With 4 losses in '22 and 3 losses in '23 I didn't realize he had played for so many championships in his time at LSU.

The guy with 30+ years HC experience who left poor ole' ND for 100 bags, to go to mighty LSU who would fully support and empower him to be all he can be, has the same number of losses in two years (with a Heisman winning QB) as the guy with 2 years HC experience who has fully embraced underprivileged ND.
Also interesting is that Kelly's 7 losses have come by a combined 104 points (14.85 avg) while Freeman's 7 losses have come by a combined 53 points (7.57 avg).
…..I think ND would be in the absolute tank right now if Kelly were still the coach given the changes in CFB and recruiting.
He wanted to rely on the bag and location of talent to get players that he hypocritically eschews here. He was lazy and aloof, and he had stopped trying.
Freeman has much to learn as a coach, but has much, much more upward potential than Kelly. In fact, both are more CEO style coaches than hands on like say…Lou Holtz who could coach both sides of the ball and special teams. But Freeman is far better at attracting good assistant coaches. In fact, he took Kelly’s star coordinator.
While Freeman must produce this year, He is also far better at selling (and believing) in what Notre Dame is offering.
It was a great deal for us. But Kelly is about to hit hard times and he knows it. That is why he is prelubricating with excuses in this video.
Hopefully we’ll be discussing CFP playoff performance and NC game performance again soon. That’s the potential I want to see out of Freeman. Relatively easier schedule this year should lead to a 11-1 or worse 10-2 record this year based on Freeman’s “potential”

It’s also a stupid thing to say in the NIL age. Many star players are going where they can get paid best…at least as part of their requirements these days.
on multiple targets. Two of his DT's that he was planning on staying left.
I don't buy the part about LSU not buying players. I think that he is just trying to save face for himself (first) and LSU for having missed on his targets.
...now he's turning purple faced again, and pointing the finger of blame elsewhere.
History repeats itself.
Lot of talent on that team. Interesting that Ole Miss is getting a lot of preseason love as well.
It’s not like most actually want to do any in depth research work.
