relying on landing the best recruiting class of 18-year-olds with no college game experience is now much less valuable. Much less critical. You're likely not holding anyone for 4 years and almost no one for a "5th year".
The SEC made a living pulling more from Juco at crucial roster spots rather than taking a 100% gamble on a prima-donna 18-year-old with no experience.
Yes, HS recruiting still matters. But, it's more emotional and marketing. Roster management and program sustainability will rely more on getting proven players, generally older and with college game experience, and further developing those.
Sure, it will cost more; NIL. However, if you do it strategically you can build a program faster. Compete earlier for titles and sustain a program longer.
There was a lot of rumbling of both Hart and Boggs committing, since they're high school teammates as well, but in the recent times, Hart trended away from ND (might have had something to do with Noah Grubbs trending towards ND).
This kid is highly talented, and trending upwards a lot. I really wish we could have snagged him.
