I assume they want the spot for Meadows and Taylor.
Upgrade time.
WR prospects now are Meadows, Hines, Taylor, Robinson, Hall and Malik Clark now but with a 3* and basically a low 3* on board.

Terry is a low 3 star, and ND is looking to add some mid to high 4 stars this month. Burgess and Bettis are projects, so ND really needs to score soon.
Meadows is the big score I'm looking for, Loy already crystal-balled him to ND. He's a top 100 player (top 10 WR) and Alabama, Michigan, UGA, and LSU are also in his top 5.

645 overall and 106 WR on 247.
ND has to do better.
Looking at his reel, the kid has good speed and a remarkable ability to shift directions, while being difficult to tackle. I think he could have become a fine player under the guidance of Mike Brown and Mike Denbrock.
If we have more talented, more significantly developed prospects in the "silent commit" territory, then I can understand coming to this agreement. If anything, it gives the former commits plenty of time to explore other options, instead of leaving them out in the cold, or forcing them into a grayshirt (yes, I know, we don't grayshirt, but other places do).
It's more of the same situation that it was with Sedrick Irvin Jr for that Class of 2023, and given how Jeremiyah Love has played, this definitely looks like the right thing for everyone. Irvin got some reasonable playing time at Stanford as a true freshman as well, and did a decent job.
Of course, my statement could come around to haunt us if Irvin has an explosive development, but given how Love ended up being the starter as a true freshman, at the end of the season (after Audric Estime opted out), I like our situation much better.
Terry, Bettis Jr, and Burress I thought Terry was the highest ranked among those guys.
