It's just one side of the story, and often times, these stories end up being false, but this one does sound credible. There are several other stories about this that were published in the last few days.
This allegedly happened while he was the WR coach at Notre Dame.
“Hell, Urban Meyer locked me in an office in my school, and no bullshit asked me straight up,” Johnson said. “He was like, BJ how much? And this is when he was at Notre Dame at the time.”

Their lack of stats wasn't surprising, given how Kevin Rogers kept insisting on running the vanilla option that was so easy to predict.
Javin Hunter and David Givens are two examples of wasted talent. Those guys were both blue chip WR recruits and highly coveted by many schools.
Javin Hunter ended up starting 4 games as a rookie once he got to the NFL. Unfortunately, a ripped Achilles tendon all but crippled him.
When David Givens got to the NFL, he became an excellent receiver, and even had a chance to be a true WR1 when he signed that massive contract with the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, he got his knee shredded up, and never recovered from it.
I doubt that BJ Johnson would have thrived under the overly simplistic Kevin Rogers offense (complete with those stupid overly exaggerated handoffs). At best, I'm guessing he would have been a glorified, pint-sized blocker on running plays.
Neither Givens nor Hunter would have started at Miami, Florida, or Florida State. They were good athletes who labored in a horrible system that was limited by the coaches who ran it, and there's no doubt that their development was badly stunted through a combination of scheme and the quarterbacks throwing the ball to them. Givens worked hard and was blessed to catch passes from the G.O.A.T. quarterback under the G.O.A.T. coach - credit where due for that. He was a serviceable pro.
The other receivers on the roster at this time included Omar Jenkins, Ronnie Rodamer, Carlos Campbell, Lorenzo Crawford (briefly), and eventually Arnaz Battle.
If we're being honest, scheme isn't the only issue we had with receivers. None of those guys would've had their names compared favorably to Andre Johnson, Donte Stallworth, Charlie Rogers, Reche Caldwell, Javon Walker, Fred Gibson, etc. It was tough to recruit good receivers when they weren't going to have a chance to shine.
