Man, totally forgot about that guy.
Was there news about his being shifted to 3 technique tackle (DT)? I can't find any such recent news.
The news reported that he made the switch from LB to DE back in March. I was actually more surprised that he was listed as a linebacker, since we were recruiting him as a DE / edge.
As a weakside or rush DE, 242 lbs is sufficient at the college level if your technique and conditioning are good. I remember Devon McDonald playing at about 235 lbs, as a weakside DE in 1991 and 1992, and doing about as well as anyone.
He has plenty of time to add another 15-20 lbs to his frame, and would be well suited for either WDE or SDE.

I didn't realize that a "bandit DE" would need more of a SDE's build. I was under the belief that it was more of a WDE position.
Keeley had better put on another 20 quality lbs if he wants to survive.
Thankfully, he has a decent S&C coach (David Ballou) who has a proven track record. If anything, Ballou was Matt Balis' right hand man in 2017, and there's no questioning the fitness and strength of the Crimson Tide's roster, and Kalen Deboer was wise for holding onto him. .
