The Trojans ruined many of Ara's seasons and were the cherry on top for Lou's 88' team and Kelly's 12' team. If ND comes in with one loss their probably ranked anywhere from 8 - 10. Strength of schedule will come into play. Not only will they have to win but may need style points.
ND needs a more prestigious biggest rival.

Been in L.A. my whole life, went to every USC/ND since ‘84 in L.A.With that said, they, again, will be garbage. No interior lineman on either side of the ball, and no premier QB. Lincoln, will be Lincoln. When SC broke ND’s heart in the 60’s 70’s and very early 80’s, they had real teams and real coaching. ND better boat-race them. Lincoln doesn’t measure up to those coaches and does not have those teams.
I’m far more worried about FSU, and Louisville, and they are at home.
USC may come into that game with nothing to lose. I'm pretty sure their 64' team had at least 3 lossses. ND fumbles on a pitch on one drive and gets the phantom holding call on another. Alan Page was so damn close to getting a sack. Theisman throws for 500 yards in the rain and mud in another game and another undefeated season goes down the tubes. I hated their horse, scoreboard, song. You name it and I hated it.

Yep. Also, ‘84 in the pouring rain and the comeback ‘86, which was really the program momentum changer for ‘87 forward.
