I think our 2 coordinators even out this star alignment. Freeman needs to motivate and

Have them ready to play right out of the gate. Fast start for this game will take off a lot of the pressure on the offense.

Well they underperformed last year so my biggest fear is they have a huge chip on their shoulders

this year and will be hungry to have a come back year. Undoubtedly a fresh start for them. We have to play our best this year, but we have a few potential difference makers in Leonard, Love, Watts, and Morrison and better coordinators.

They were even worse the year before.

That "chip on their shoulder" thing didn't work too well for them last year. And, as Albany mentioned, they have a lot of new faces who could probably care less (if they even know) what the teams record was.

It's hard to have a chip on your shoulder when 70% of your roster is new.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

Cross, Morrison and Watts would all be 5*s if you were to re-rank them.

It's also interesting they have a 5* CB behind two NRs.

Yes, those HS rankings are not etched in performance stone.

The level of analysis as presented is severely lacking if your goal is to compare talent levels between the starting lineups, this is because for most of these players we have new information to go on and should rely on their on the field performance and other factors over their subjective and outdated recruiting rank.

Benjamin Morrison will be the best CB on the field for either side.
Xavier Watts will be the best S on the field for either side.
And there's an argument to be made that Cross is the best DL for either side.

Sort of.

it's kind of a HS hype versus actual college performance comparison.

Both teams recruit and use the portal well. The Irish have performed better.
